Ahi Tuna Keto Tostadas (Gluten Free, Using Cali'flour Flatbreads)

This simple and fresh ahi tuna recipe is going to be perfect for your next dinner, reunion or just lunch! It took just a few minutes and it's just a fun and low carb twist to the classic tostadas recipe. In this occasion we are using Cali'Flour Foods flatbreads as our tostadas, simply epic and slightly cheesy!

Well, this recipe was inspired by a few things, lent and my sister. Weird combinations but here's why; the past month my sister was home for a few weeks and this is a recipe she made, apparently a secret and famous recipe that one of her friends knew. And lent because it's a tradition in Mexico and in my family to eat fish on Fridays during this period.

Low Carb Tostadas

Although the tradition has been fading or we are not as strict as before this is just the excuse, or at least for me to create fish recipes and to eat more fish. Fish is one of my favorite proteins to eat so yeah, this had to happen!

And since my Mexican blood always pops in some way into my recipes this was no different; inspired by the iconic Poké recipe and Mexican Tostadas, these Ahi Tuna Tostadas were born.

Low Carb Tostadas

As a base I kept it low carb and delicious by using Cali'flour Foods flatbreads (the jalapeño ones works wonderful!) as our tostadas. They are just super versatile and if you don't believe it or if you are tempted to try them check out some of my recipes featuring Cali'flour Foods products:

You will see that the taste is amazing and it goes so well with many recipes. Just a great way to create your favorite recipes in a gluten free and low carb version! And these tostadas are just another case.

Ahi Tuna Keto Tostadas

One of my favorite things about fish is that it's easy to prepare, it takes just a few minutes and it can be super flavorful as well! For this recipe the marinade is key, even with raw fish. In this occasion I simply used lime juice, coconut aminos and the seasonings.

Raw fish?

Well, yes! It can be eaten raw. But in this recipe we are including some lime, the acidity of the lime may break some of the proteins in the ahi tuna so it may not me completely raw if that something that worries you.

If you are not ready to eat raw fish or if you feel unsure about making it at home then you can simply cover the tuna with lime juice, onion, plenty of salt and pepper. Leave it resting for at least two hours.

That's the method on making ceviche!

And as ceviche, this is also eaten with tostadas, and the toppings also essential or makes the recipe special. Avocado is just one of the classic toppings when it comes to tostadas no matter the protein.

Add some cilantro, sauce and those slices of avocados to enjoy each bite of these ahi tuna tostadas. Which is also a crowd pleaser! So easy to cook batches and serve a crowd. The time my sister made these tostadas and fed plenty of us!

Low Carb Tostadas

Overall this recipe is:

  • Keto

  • Gluten and Grain Free

  • Meal Prep Friendly

  • Delicious!

This is a great recipe that your family or friends will love! Simple and elegant no matter the occasion, this recipe is made to enjoy in the most effortless and most delicious way ever! So are you ready? Grab those ingredients and let's get started!
