As I am sitting in the clinic waiting for my clients I'm dreaming about this recipe that I'm about to share! Turmeric donuts!
This is my second attempt since the first one was an epic fail. Well, not epic but I wasn't a fan of the consistency. This time I made some tweaks and NAILED IT! I'm happy to be sharing this recipe right now with you and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
From the experience I got between the first batch and this second one (the winner), I learned that you shouldn't underestimate the power or OAT FIBER. And no, it's not oat flour, just the fiber. It's non digestible but it adds a special consistency.
The function?
Since it's a fiber it absorbs water. I also added flaxseed so comparing this winner batch these donuts are:
- Dense
- Flavorful
- Thick
- Soft
The first batch was a little bit to soft and moist, this is not a bad thing though! But after freezing them they turned appealing. They were harder and crumblier.
As for the other ingredients:
Almond flour: I love this paleo and low carb flour, it adds density, flavor and more nutrients. You can substitute it for cassava, pumpkin, rice or sprouted wheat flour.
Gold Nugget Ghee: This is genuinely my favorite ghee brand for the high quality, values and amazing flavors. All low carb, paleo and keto friendly. You will find:
- Vanilla
- Lion's Mane Turmeric
- Goat Ghee
- Lavender Vanilla
- Honey Chocolate
- Mushroom Chocolate
- Yak Ghee
- The Classic
- Turmeric Ginger
Now you now why I love this ghee? On this recipe I decided to use goat ghee. DELISH!
Xantam Gum: It's use as a stabilizer and thicker. Research is inconclusive but people suffering digestive issues might want to skip this part. But I find it very useful. Everything in moderation, test yourself and see how your body reacts. Plus the amount on this recipe is limited, you won't be eating a huge amount so it's safe. But I will always encourage you to me mindful about what goes on with your body.
Turmeric: My favorite spice ever! Not even joking, the benefits are amazing. From offering neural (brain love) protection, reduce inflammation, detoxfy your body, and being a great source of antioxidants, YES! Of course it had to be my favorite spice. Plus is gives a very special flavor to recipes, lattes and baked goods (hello!).
This is a very easy recipe, you will need a mixing bowl and a silicone donut mold. Are you ready to have the BEST Turmeric Chocolate Chip Donuts ever?
